Michaelmas Festival
September 27, 2018 @ 5:45 pm - 7:30 pm
5.45 for a 6pm start
Michaelmas Harvest Festival is named for the Archangel Michael, conqueror of the powers of darkness and the harvester of all deeds of the souls of men. It is the time that the image of Michael with the dragon appears before us as a mighty imagination, challenging us to develop strong, brave, free wills, to overcome love of ease, anxiety and fear. This demands inner activity, a renewal of the soul which is brought to consciousness in the Michaelmas Festival, the festival of the will. We often hear of St George slaying the dragon: he symbolises the human aspect of this conflict: he is the knight who looks to Michael for strength and guidance.
Children from Kindergarten to Class 6 are preparing for this festival of renewal with a performance. Children to be in their classrooms by 5.45pm in full costume.
Please bring some produce from the garden to garnish the harvest table.
We will gather on the meadow after the performance for a family picnic.
Bring a rug, dinner for your family and a dessert to share. Dessert can be placed on the harvest
table and will be served by the Class Guardians.
Please speak with the Class Guardians this week if you can help set up the Harvest Table on the meadow/ veranda. A photo opportunity will be available at the end of the performance.
