March 17, 2022 @ 8:00 am - March 20, 2022 @ 5:00 pm

Kudjewk / Gudjeuk Seasonal Festival  –

Thursday 17th to Sunday 20th March, 2022

It is Kudjewk time and the earth and its beings rejoice with all the rain.

Anmorlak, the billy goat plums are growing.

Almangiyi, the long neck turtles are swimming around now the floodplains and creeks are flooded.  Kinga, the saltwater crocodiles have made their nests and laid their eggs and djadi, the frogs sing with the rain and spread lots of eggs in the water.

Bamurru, the Magpie geese are preparing nests in the floodplain grasses and sedges.

The land is green, green, green! Inspiration for more songs, stories and poems.

The ‘Walks with Nature’ group have booked the Florence Falls special purpose camp.

So please join us for the festival, to celebrate the season of Kudjewk/Gudjeuk in the bush.

Please bring a coloured cloth and a candle and a basket or bag for nature walks.

If you have a song, poem or story to share please bring that to.

We will bring the rest and ask a small charge of $10 / family/ day to contribute to the cost of materials for the festival. Please pay this even if you visit just for the day. Thank you.

For those new comers to our festivals –

The facilities at the camp include showers, toilets, a swimming hole along the creek.

Tables, chairs and a grassy mowed camp area,

Large kitchen facility – but bring your own cooking or eating utensils.

There is a small fridge but ice in eskies is good because the fridge is not too cold.

There is a gas stove and oven.

You will need to take your rubbish away as the rangers do not do this. If you bring

disposable nappies you will need to take them away and not put in kitchen refuse bags to attract flies, thanks.

Usually families prepare food for the evening meals and we lay out all the scrumptious food to share.  Breakfast and Lunch cater for your own needs.

Bring fruit for morning and afternoon teas (we often share this to)

(Remember ‘Ursula and Greenie’s shop at Rapid creek has lovely fresh organic fruit and vegetables and grains)

The cost for camping per night –

$3.30/ adult      and      $1.65 / child

Directions to the camp –

Drive through Batchelor and out to the Florence Falls turn off.

Follow the road to Florence Falls and you will see a sign off to the left to Buley Rock hole. Opposite this sign look to the right and you will see a dummie locked gate and a dirt track. Please dummie lock the gate to avoid other campers joining us.

Follow the dirt track, about 500 metres, to the camp.  Hope to see you there!

If you are first there the key for kitchen and storeroom will be in the sink of the disabled toilets
