Our Community - Craft Group

Many Steiner inspired crafts can be learnt in a friendly relaxing environment. Experience the joy of creating your very first felt animal or wet felted panel! Items made by the craft group are showcased in our annual Open day, the schools craft cabinet and local craft markets where parents and friends can purchase wonderful handmade treasures.

Milkwood Steiner School has a craft group that meets every Monday morning to chat, drink coffee and make beautiful handmade felt toys for the Milkwood craft cabinet. We also sell our creations at some of the local craft markets throughout the year. This year we will be meeting again at Del la Plage cafe near the Casuarina Surf Club. We usually craft from 9am to 11am although some of us hang around for longer and stay on for lunch. Lately we have been making bilbies and mice. When the weather cools down we will make some wet felted panels to turn into crowns, bags, needle wallets and story mats.

Everyone is welcome – even if you’ve never threaded a needle please come along. All instructions and materials are provided. If you make something and can’t bear to put it into the craft cabinet you are welcome to buy it for the cost of the materials. Children of all ages are also most welcome, however crafting materials are not provided for children. If your little ones are keen to get in on the action you will need to bring along your own sewing kit and a simple project for them.
